Vangalapudi Anitha is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. She won the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election as a candidate for the Telugu Desam Party. She represented the Payakaraopet constituency in the Visakhapatnam district, which is now part of the Anakapalli district.

Vangalapudi Anitha, born on January 1, 1984, in Lingarajupalem, Visakhapatnam district, is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh. She is nominated to contest the Payakaraopet SC reserved constituency in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election as a candidate for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Her father’s name is Vangalapudi Apparao. Anitha completed her MA and M.Ed. from Andhra University in 2009. She is married to K Shiva Prasad.
Political Party And Career
In 2014, Vangalapudi Anitha won the Payakaraopet Assembly seat for the TDP. She defeated Chengala Venkatrao of YSRCP by 2,828 votes. In April 2018, she was nominated as a member of the Tirupati Thirumala Devasthanam board.
However, due to controversy on social media, she withdrew her membership request shortly after, and it was later canceled.
In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, Vangalapudi Anitha lost the Kovvuru seat to Taneti Vanitha of YSRCP by 25,248 votes. On January 30, 2021, she was appointed as the president of Telugu Mahila, the women’s wing of TDP.
After the TTD board controversy in 2018, Vangalapudi Anitha was involved in a ‘cheque bounce’ case in May 2022.
In past elections, the TDP won seven times, the Congress Party four times, and YSR Congress Party twice in the Payakaraopet constituency. In 2014, Anitha from TDP won with a margin of 2828 votes against Chengala Venkatarao from YSRCP.
In 2019, Golla Baburao from YSRCP won. Chief Minister Jagan nominated Kambhala Jogulu from Srikakulam district to the Rajya Sabha, giving him a ticket. Despite being reserved, the Kapu, SC, and BC communities have significant influence in this constituency.
